As we count down the hours to a new year, I would first like to wish you all Peace, Good Health, Strength, Joy and Happiness and I pray that you all are surrounded by positive people in 2011 and beyond. I thank you all for supporting me all the way, I would have never dreamed of having this much love and support especially all of you who became a Fan on Facebook and to you all who take time out of your busy life to watch my YouTube videos :] I love you all MUAH!!!!!!

Now, let's get straight to the Eye Candy Special's achievements which you all contributed to:

  • After entering the Sacha Cosmetics MUA Competition in May 2010 and receiving so many positive feedback, I start the Facebook Fan Page, Eye Candy Special.
  • As I type this Blog Post, Eye Candy Special currently has 432 Fans on Facebook!
  • Shortly after starting the Facebk Fan Page I decided to create a Blog for Eye Candy Special.
  • 19 Followers on this Blog!!!
  • I was running Eye Candy Special on Facebook and on Blogger....doing Makeup Looks, having discussions, keeping y'all up to date the best I can on the latest products, etc...then I decided its time to start a YouTube Channel!
  • I was shy and very hesitant  at first about doing YouTube vids because I was worried about people being all up in my personal business on the Internet...but y'all were my Motivators and now Eye Candy Special has a Channel on YouTube!
  • 37 Subscribers currently on YouTube!
  • The goal was not to get the most Subscribers but to be effective to my viewers and subscribers and bring the vids that would excite them, even if I only had 10 viewers....so 37 is alot!
  • Recently Trinidad and Tobago's Miss Universe, La Toya Woods visited this Blog and read the Post about her, she also became a Fan and a Follower of Eye Candy Special's networks...this meant alot to me, because I am inspired by her...Thank You La Toya, it goes to show how down to earth you are.
These are just a few of the major accomplishments for Eye Candy Special...Thank you all for giving me the support and encouragement so that I could of have the confidence to do it. My time became very limited since I started working fulltime and studying as well, so I haven't have as much time as I wanted to do Looks and Vids for Eye Candy Special but I promise from the beginning of 2011 I ask God, I will organize my time better so that I can spend time blogging and doing vids because this is all my hobby.

God Bless each and every one of you...see you in the New Year!!!!

Wonderful World Jewelry Haul

Happy Sunday y'all!

I spent my Saturday at West Mall, as usual....I really went there to window-shop for Christmas gifts for my family since I'm clueless as to what to get them, but of course I couldn't leave the mall without checking out Wonderful World!

For the non-locals, Wonderful World (WW) is a local accessory store that carries makeup, nail polish, jewelry, handbags, purses, underwear, hair accessories, and other small accessories and gift items...for most Trinis its that one store on the island where makeup addicts and other locals can find the stuff that are most raved about in the US and around the Internet (YouTube).

Anyways, it has become clear that they are doing their research and they are now providing the makeup brands and accessories that people want to buy and that are highly praised and demanded in the makeup world and by makeup addicts everywhere. This can be seen by the introduction of brands such as Orly, NYX, China Glaze, and jewelry brands such as Da Vinci. It shows that they are no longer about getting their customer's money but more about quality.

I wasn't always a big fan of their jewelry but after my trip there yesterday I now declare that WW is now my favorite place to shop for jewelry. I got some really cool chic jewelry there yesterday which were mostly around $20...I usually pay $60 and up at other places for the same brand:

These cuffs were $18 each so I had to buy two...one for each hand, lol!

I love my new earrings :]

Have you ever seen earrings look like these?....They look so unique,
I love Da Vinci jewelry I usually buy it at Bang Bang

Haulin On Strong

Hey y'all I did some haulin this past week and I just wanted to share the stuff I got, I've been on a spree lately trying to find beautiful, good quality makeup to add to my collection, while at the same time allowing myself to test out brands other than Sacha and MAC.

My first stop was this past Saturday at NYX in Long Circular Mall, I was so happy when I got there to see they had some items on sale. I picked up one in each of the four items I wanted to try...my bill was adding up fast :]
So I ended up with these babies:
NYX - Ultimate Pearl Eyeshadow, Pigment, Blush, Single eyeshadow
Purple Pearl, Wise Men, Copper and Smoke Mountain

.
Isn't it gorgeous? I definitly recommend these as a substitute for the LA Splash Eye Sparkles because they go on more smooth without creasing and the pigmentation is out of this world, unlike the LA Splash that creases like crazy!
I am also loving the jars...they look similar to the old MAC pigment jars
The Blush is beautiful, this one has shimmer which you can't see here in this pic, but on my skin tone doesn't show much color but more of a glow like a bronzer would.
This color is sooooooooooooo gorgeous and has a beautiful shimmer its a old green and reminds me of the green color in the 'She Who Dares' Mineralize Eyeshadow from the MAC Disney Collection.

On the second part of my haul this week I stopped by Wonderful World twice and picked up some more goodies:

I brought two Kleancolor Eyelashes ($15 each) in Sassy Jessie (ELS215), that's the fuller one, and Bubbly Carol (ELS202). My co-worker introduced me to these lashes and I can't wait to try them on, I have never seen them at Wonderful World before, especially the branch on Fredrick St. that I go to.

I am trying to add lashes to my makeup collection and when I saw that Wonderful World was restocking on Red Cherry Lashes again I was happy. The quality of these lashes is one I trust and they are similar to MAC lashes, especially the #217 which looks like the popular MAC #4 lashes, the MAC #4 lashes was the first pair of lashes I ever wore.

The two NYX lip gloss from Wonderful World are a definite good buy! They look gorgeous on me. I would do a separate post reviewing these two lip gloss together with swatches. I brought Deep Red #16 which is a deep burgundy colour (love it) and Red Tint #31, which is a purple color with glitter that's not huge and annoying goes on sheer.

Of course my haul from Wonderful World wouldn't be complete without nail polish :] LA Girl Disco Brights black polish.

Local Essie Nail Polish Haul & Review

Hey y'all how is this rainy seaon in Trini treating you? I hate it and can't wait for raining season to be over, pronto! Anyways, I decided to finally try out the Essie brand of nail polish after seeing it everywhere on the internet, especially Youtube.

I did some lil research and stumbled upon a local beauty distributor called Mecalfab. Mecalfab is also the company that runs MAC Cosmetics along with a prestige Beauty School called Pivot-Point.

After researching the company on their website here. I sent them an e-mail asking whether or not I can visit there offices to purchase Essie and they sent me a very quick and polite reply saying yes I can and stating the price.

So, yesterday I went there, and the security directed me to the third floor where there Salon Supplies store called, Salon Essentials, is located. I walked in and the Sales girl was very polite and welcoming, I told her what I was there for and she directed me to a corner where they had all of Essie's latest collections.

Besides the Essie Nail polishes available they also had Essie lotions, etc and hair products like Redken and Matrix (which I must try) and a brand called Pevonia (which I'm not familiar with).

I must say that my experience there was wonderful and I would be going back there in future.

Essie nail Polishes: Lilacism on the left and Pepperoni on the right
(Arista Nail Polish Remover in background [purchased at Pennywise $8.99])

Pros: No streaking, no air bubbles, no smudging, colour drys even and glossy and drys and sets very fast
Cons: Brush isn't as wide as other brands, so you'll have to apply more strokes than usual, Lilacism needs at least three coats

Will I buy Essie in the future? Oh yes, and I would recommend it to anyone :)

Where to buy: Mecalfab Ltd, corner of Queen and Richmond Streets, Port of Spain (that's past the Library and Subway, about three corners from Fredrick Street), 3rd Floor at Salon Essentials.

Price: $35 per bottle before tax (I brought two bottles and paid $10.50 tax total)
